Sapaxa Spring Garden Ecolodge is a family-run garden retreat in Ta Phin, the Red Dao and Black H'mong valley northeast of Sa Pa town, in Vietnam's Lao Cai highlands. Wrapped in its own lush garden and framed by rice terraces and the Hoang Lien Son peaks, it trades the bustle of the town centre for birdsong, mountain air and wide open views, while staying an easy drive from Sa Pa's main sights.
The lodge suits couples, families and small groups looking for a calm, nature-first base. Rooms range from spacious deluxe doubles and triples to large family rooms and a mixed dormitory, most with a balcony or terrace opening onto the garden or the mountains, air conditioning and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower; several feature a cosy fireplace for cool highland evenings.
Beyond the rooms, guests can unwind at the spa and wellness centre, stretch out on the sun terrace or relax in the garden, then dine at the on-site restaurant, which serves local, Vietnamese and Asian dishes plus a barbecue. There is a bar, a shared lounge, cooking classes and guided tours, free WiFi throughout and free private parking on site.

Sapaxa Spring Garden Ecolodge offers five room types, from private doubles and triples to family rooms and a shared dormitory, so couples, families and groups can each find a fit. Most rooms are generously sized at around 45 m² and share the same relaxed highland style: air conditioning, a private entrance, a balcony or terrace facing the garden or mountains, and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower.
What sets the types apart is space and sleeping arrangement. The Deluxe Double and Deluxe Triple are ideal for two or three guests, several with a fireplace; the Family Room with Garden View and the larger Deluxe Family Room open up to bigger parties, while the Mixed Dormitory offers a sociable, budget-friendly bunk for solo travellers and backpackers. Bedding details are shown per room below.

Sapaxa Spring Garden Ecolodge is built around its setting: a garden, a sun terrace and mountain views, with plenty of ways to slow down and enjoy the highlands. A spa and wellness centre with massage rounds out the on-site restaurant, bar and coffee house, while a shared lounge, garden and picnic area give guests room to gather. Free WiFi reaches every corner of the property.
Families and active travellers are well served too. There are family rooms, a children's play area and babysitting on request, alongside cooking classes, guided walking and bike tours, and local-culture experiences arranged through the tour desk. Practicalities are covered by free private parking with EV charging, a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, currency exchange and daily housekeeping. Good to know: payment on site is cash only, and pets stay free.
Sapaxa Spring Garden Ecolodge lies in Ta Phin, a valley of rice terraces and Red Dao and Black H'mong villages northeast of Sa Pa town, in the Hoang Lien Son mountains of Lao Cai province. It is a rural, scenic setting rather than a downtown one: the lodge is roughly a ten-minute drive (about 7 km by road) from central Sa Pa, so plan on the property's shuttle, a taxi or a motorbike to reach the town's market, restaurants and viewpoints.
Ta Phin itself is the main draw right on your doorstep, known for its Red Dao herbal baths, brocade weaving and gentle walks between hamlets and paddy fields. From the lodge, Sa Pa's headline sights are all within easy reach: the Fansipan cable car climbs Vietnam's highest peak, Silver Waterfall tumbles beside the road toward Lai Chau, and Ham Rong Garden overlooks the town from above.
Getting here, most travellers arrive via Sa Pa Bus Station, the terminus for sleeper buses and limousine vans from Hanoi (roughly five to six hours). Sa Pa's weather shifts fast and can be cool and misty even in summer, so bring layers and a rain jacket. The clearest, most comfortable months are generally March to May and September to November, with the golden terraces at their best around the September harvest.
